The world of Pokemon is full of fantastic beasts and adorable animals in every shape, size, species and ability known to man! Within this amazing planet is also a plethora of theatrical movies based off the anime based off the video game. Over the years I've noticed a change in these movies which I wish to talk about.

[Released in 2001 and based primarily on the second generation of Pokemon games, Gold and Silver in 1999]
This is the beginning to a very common theme of Pokemon movie plotlines that'll show up later.
The story goes that Celebi, guardian of the forest and timelord is being hunted by a famous Team Rocket poacher to gain infinite power!
Another included story is the young boy, Sammy, who was brought to the future by Celebi or rather our present.
It's mostly a forest folktale movie but with less charm than Pokemon 3: Spell of the Unknown.
This infinite power scheme of course comes with reprocussions as life in the forest starts to drain.
Also Suicune's there to fix it.

There are only two things I particularly like about this movie and rhe first is its even minor focus on poaching.
I begins in the past with Celebi escaping a poacher and the same poacher (old with age in the future) being interrogated by the movies villain whose more poacher than any other Team Rocket member.

For this point I prefer to focus more on the first poacher because it's more like actual poachers. He kept his caught Pokemon in cages for gods sake! It isn't looked very far into but it still made me think only a little bit on how poachers fit too well into the Pokemon universe.
And the part that I found to be the most satisfying and world building part of the movie.
You know the boy I mentioned who was sent to the future/present by Celebi?

Turns out he was Professor Oak the whole time! This is amazing to me when you think about all the help and support Oak has given Ash over the years. Mostly because they were childhood friends!

[Released in 2002 and based primarily on the second generation of Pokemon games, Gold and Silver in 1999 as a teaser to the third generation of Pokemon, Ruby and Sapphire released in 2002]
This is one of my favourites for pure bias since I watched this movie on DVD when I was much younger but that won't stop me from making this next remark now that I've rewatched the movie.
It is the same movie as 4Ever.
Let's run through the similarities:
Legends: Celeby/Forest guardian - Latios & Latias/Protectors
Infinite power if controlled
New Team Rocket member: Iron masked marauder - Anna & Oakley
Legends Becomes friends with main characters
Deadly consequence: Dying forest - Tsunami
Legendary Pokemon risks dying
