An expansive library of Pokemon Movies [20+21]

The world of Pokemon is full of fantastic beasts and adorable animals in every shape, size, species and ability known to man! Within this amazing planet is also a plethora of theatrical movies based off the anime based off the video game. Over the years I've noticed a change in these movies which I wish to talk about.

[Released in 2015 and based primarily on the third generation of Pokemon game remakes for the sixth generation of Pokemon, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire in 2014]
When I saw the trailer to this particular Pokemon movie, it got me genuinely excited! It had plenty of giant legendary Pokemon fighting in a city! As an avid Godzilla fan it was obvious to me that I wanted to watch this movie.
I have never been more disappointed in a Pokemon movie than I am with this one.
Remember how angry I was getting when they threw Mewtwo's entire history with Ash away? Well, this movie insulted Ash's theatrical history even further.

Let's just quickly run through all the legendary Pokemon and their sudden, erratic changes:
Lugia-No longer uses telepathy and has no history with Ash.
Latias-Seemingly no changes but can now mega evolve on its own.
Latios-Not dead somehow. Also can mega evolve by itself.
Kyogue-For some reason has become Primal Kyogue with no explanation.
Groudon-Also now Primal Groudon with no explanation.
Rayquaza-Somehow now shiny, can Mega evolve by itself and has unexplained history with Ash despite their only encounter in Destiny Deoxys which they didn't interact to any emotional level in.
Palkia-Seemingly no changes but doesn't interact like Ash has known them before.
Dialga-Same as Palkia.
Giratina-Again, seemingly no changes apart from being alienated canon wise.
Kyurem-Absolutely no history with Ash and also lacks telepathy but still somewhat faithful to its form changing abilities in the movie which already disregarded the Pokemon game mechanics to begin with.
Arceus-No telepathy and no connection to Ash Again!
I've talked plenty about how much I care for the original Pokemon movies that this series began so it looks very apparent that I am quite insulted.
And you'd be right to notice that as well.

I think Celebi and Victini deserve some credit for not using their overpowered abilities of time travel and instant victory to an unnecessary extent.
However Hoopa cares even less than Jirachi does!
Jirachi may have used its wish granting abilities alot but only for its friend Max. Hoopa can create portals to wherever it wants and can take whatever it wants through them. Even worse is it falls into the "Annoying telepathy side character" which is an official category now and always was.
If you care about the stories and characters of any of the Pokemon movies and their canon, avoid this movie. It just doesn't care about it.

[Released in 2016 and based primarily on the third generation of Pokemon game remakes for the sixth generation of Pokemon, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire in 2014 as a teaser for the seventh generation of Pokemon, Sun and Moon in 2016 also]
As a starter I want to make clear that I know that in order for this movie to be based on the third generation remake games it would have to take place in Hoenn but in this case those remakes have already been released and these movies feature the mega evolutions and primal counterparts featured in those remakes. And that is whole my reasoning.

After watching this movie I built myself... conflicting feelings whether to like this movie or not. Probably because of all the conflicting ideas they had when making it.
This movie's sorta good. Well, that's a perfect summary right there.
Let's start with the story.

A Nicola Tesla parody character invented machines long ago and built a mechanical city that could double as a WAR MACHINE!
A sudden escalation but it doesn't mean anything. It gets beaten just as usual so don't get used to it.
One of his inventions is of a Pokemon.
This is one of the many conflicting ideas I've come across. The fact that this man of a steam punk era (even though the whole city is still stuck there also) invented life before MewTwo was after years of research seems... well... stupid to me.

Volcanion is another machine like Pokemon with no back story but obligatorily hates humans anyway. Stranger being that his ability is to shoot powerful bursts of water and create giant clouds of steam but requires water as fuel externally. Squirtle can shoot water from its mouth infinitely. Charmander can breath flames infinitely. Bulbasaur can shed razor leaves off it infinitely. Volcanion has to stop at a river and take water to store in order to attack.
...
Why?...
...

The villain is just a mad scientist who knows that Magearna (The invented Pokemon) can power the WAR MACHINE!
Pretty basic. Although he does have an unexplained shiny Gengar by his side. I say "unexpected" because shiny Pokemon are meant to be rare yet almost everyone nowa days have one in the movies.
I've done nothing but describe this movie and its characters. If you were to imagine my voice if I were reading this out then you'd be right to imagine my tone to be very bored and uninterested. Because I am.
This movie just felt like it was a dime-a-dozen compared to the rest.
I suppose the film did try and do something with... actually no, they tried nothing new. They just used steampunk as a watered down version of the pirate stereotype. It was meaningless.
When you've watched Pokemon movies at the rate I have then you'd start to hate Ash more and more. Ash is forever a stagnant character now because they can't do anything compelling with this character until they decide to cut the cord on him and end his saga. Until then he's got nothing to challenge him. Not even death.
And because he will live forever he'll keep running into poor clones of previous adventures.
In short, he's boring. His world has become stale and I'd at least like to see him retire some day so someone else could bring the Pokemon series to somewhere new.
